Maintenance and Facilities Coordinator
Responsible for delivering the best facilities in the southwest by supporting the management, maintenance and health and safety of the sites, to assure a safe and productive workspace for all.
Having cemented our position as one of the South West’s most established breweries, Wiper and True is a multi-award winning brewery. In 2024, we were awarded the prestigious Brewery of The Year award, and we can continue to move through an exciting period of growth. Today, Wiper and True has two operational sites, each with differing demands from a facilities and maintenance perspective.
The Role
You will join an exciting team whose focus is to maintain and develop the buildings and grounds of one of the most renowned craft breweries in the country. Your role will span across both of our two sites: Wiper and True’s iconic brewery and taproom in Old Market, Bristol, and our characterful Barrel Store venue, in the heart of St. Werburghs. You will also be instrumental in helping develop new sites that will be added to our portfolio over the coming years. This role is not responsible for brewery production equipment and maintenance.
You will report to our Facilities and Sustainability Manager.
You will be responsible for maintaining the best facilities in the South West, by supporting the management, maintenance and health and safety of the sites, to ensure a safe and productive workspace for all. Alongside this you will assist in installation and infrastructure of exciting new projects throughout the business.
Objectives
To be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of all facilities with safe, efficient and functioning working sites for all staff and visitors including taproom clientele. This does not include the brewery production equipment maintenance.
To assist in and support the smooth running and delivery of new projects, fundamental to the growth of Wiper and True, for example; taproom development and infrastructure upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
Regular weekly meetings with Facilities and Sustainability Manager
Attending regular Health and Safety meetings
Conducting regular health and safety checks throughout the site, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire escapes and legionella risk.
Supporting our venues teams directly by leading weekly H&S and maintenance meetings with the management teams of both venues
Managing maintenance tasks and conducting regular maintenance of the building, fabric repair and maintenance, and booking in specialist contractors when needed.
Maintenance
Conducting maintenance when required, including conducting preventative maintenance to reduce issues and down time facility infrastructure. Including but not limited to: carpentry, decoration, basic plumbing, fabric repair, fixing equipment
Allocating tasks in-house or to external contractors
Categorise the maintenance priority list based on need, hazard/risk, resource and availability/capacity
To help manage the building maintenance schedule for the site, including downpipes and gutters, fire extinguishers, entrance ways, general wear and tear on facility infrastructure.
On call out-of-hours, to deal with security and fire alarms
Contractors
Support and first point of contact for the external contracted cleaning teams.
Help organise attendance of contractors in the event of more complex facility issues, including plumbing, electrics, drainage. Liaison for regular and ad-hoc contractors.
Ensuring inductions are conducted and RAMS where necessary are signed off.
In charge of relationship with contracted waste company, dealing with issues and improving recycling rates.
Health and Safety
Completing and maintaining checks and tests on health and safety platform (currently Safesmart) - including fire drills, equipment maintenance (not relating to production)
Participating in and addressing issues raised in the weekly H&S meetings
Assist in workplace risk assessments
Management of Pest Control company
Reviewing and scheduling bi/annual compliance works, ensuring we are up to date: Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Extinguisher etc. and follow up on any actions from these.
Ensuring delegated due diligence checks (to venues teams) are being undertaken
Ensuring issues raised by site risk assessments are communicated to relevant responsible persons and actioned within the given timeframe
Writing, reviewing, updating or consulting on general site SOPs, risk assessments, SSW practices e.g. building security, evacuation plans
Development Projects Facilities Support
You will be instrumental in the implementation of infrastructure development within Wiper and True as our business grows. Including the installation of fabric, new equipment, fixtures and fittings for projects
Collaborate with relevant departments involved with these projects, communicating and updating as the project evolves on the facility aspects
Departmental project support as required pre-project, most often in research and development, finding of contractors, and quotes.
Delivering site inductions for new contractors attending to complete work.
Skills & Experience Requirements
Exceptional organisational and time management skills
An ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously without compromising on attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both with internal team members and external contractors
Competent in general maintenance of the fabric of the buildings. To include but not limited to, carpentry, decoration, basic plumbing & electrics, fabric repair, fixing equipment.
An ability to work independently, but also to know when it’s time to call in support on a task/decision.
Motivated and enjoy working on complex projects

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, ideally 8am to 4pm but flexibility around this will be considered.
Salary: £28,000.00 to £32,000.00 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
